Fika Architects was approached by a new franchise owner to embark on an exciting venture - designing the fit-out of an existing historical building in downtown Ann Arbor. The project's overall concept revolved around the franchise design standards, but the true challenge lay in the small-scale nature of the location. The task at hand was to create a space that could squeeze in all the necessary elements while providing an exceptional customer experience. Cinnaholic, a one-of-a-kind vegan dessert shop specializing in custom cinnamon rolls and an array of other delectable vegan treats, entrusted Fika Architects with this mission. To ensure the project's success, it was vital to secure approval from the historic district commission for both the exterior design and signage, respecting the building's heritage while infusing it with a modern and inviting aesthetic.
