Overview

Fika Architects proudly collaborated on the design of the Gestamp Manufacturing Facility, a large-scale industrial project that spans a total of 322,000 square feet. This comprehensive facility is comprised of 250,000 square feet dedicated to advanced manufacturing, 60,000 square feet for warehousing with 10 loading docks, and an additional 12,000 square feet of office space.

Given the substantial size of the building, a key design challenge was to ensure that the exterior elevations were visually engaging and well-articulated. To achieve this, a diverse palette of materials, textures, and colors was carefully selected. The design prominently features vertical brick pilasters, which are paired with expansive glass panels and block elements. This combination not only enhances the building’s visual appeal but also contributes to a clean and streamlined aesthetic that aligns with Gestamp’s modern industrial image.

One of the standout architectural features of the facility is the main entry canopy. This structure not only marks the primary entrance but extends two-thirds of the way along the front elevation, creating a unified and cohesive look. The canopy design also serves a functional purpose, providing sheltered access while contributing to the building’s refined and sophisticated appearance.

The facility’s layout and design were meticulously planned to support the operational needs of Gestamp, while also creating an environment that is both functional and visually appealing. The use of diverse materials and thoughtful architectural detailing ensures that this large-scale industrial building maintains a human scale and an inviting presence, both for employees and visitors.
